Let’s just say: I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time.
Growing up, like many if not all children, I held dear a number of pop culture icons that have ultimately come to influence the person that I am today. As a child, I was quite an avid lover of comic books and superheroes (still am, ladies), and despite my passion/knowledge of many disciplines in this particular field of study, there was always one superhero who, for me, stood tall above the rest:
Spider-Man has had quite a few outings on the big screen since 2002, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be here for every single high, low, extreme low, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. And now, with a little over a week to go until the release of Spidey’s latest adventure, Spider-Man: Far From Home, I figured it to be time to take a look at each Spider-Man film and give them all proper reviews.
Each day in the coming week is going to be dedicated to a different film, and this series will ultimately culminate in my review of Spider-Man: Far From Home next week.
And so, without further delay, I present the schedule for the official Reel Thoughts Spider-Man Invasion!
Monday 6/24 – Spider-Man
Tuesday 6/25 – Spider-Man 2
Wednesday 6/26 – Spider-Man 3
Thursday 6/27 – The Amazing Spider-Man
Friday 6/28 – The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Saturday 6/29 – Spider-Man: Homecoming
Monday 7/1 – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Depending on how long you’ve been an avid reader here at Reel Thoughts, you may know that I’ve already reviewed Spider-Man: Homecoming. If you want to know what 2017 me had to say about it at the time, I’ll put the review here for you. My second pass at the film will be more or less a review/updated thoughts hybrid piece of sorts.
And while I’m beyond excited to pay tribute to the cinematic history of my favorite superhero, those of you who follow me on Twitter and have spoken with me about movies since December know I’m especially stoked to dive into a certain film on this list.
I’d also like to point out that while this series will be largely the focus of the site this week, it won’t get in the way of any other reviews. James will be covering Toy Story 4 at some point or another, and I’ll be seeing and reviewing Yesterday this week as well.
As always, thank you all so much for your continued support. Here’s to Spidey Week!
